Souls weren’t meant to be tamed – that’s why I’m here. To encourage you to live your wild, adventurous life. To not feel confined and caged by the neat expectations of society. To share my experiences of travel, adventure, and everyday life, as well as telling the stories and sharing experiences of you beautiful, wild souls. Let’s build this community.
I’ve always felt that my heart beats a different rhythm, one that reminds me often if I’m starting to become too “caged” or too comfortable. This has proved especially challenging for me as I entered the workforce, spending 40 hours a week in front of a computer. My soul felt caged, trapped. While I’m still working towards a solution to this whole desk job thing, I’ve learned that there are ways to still feel alive without selling all of your belongings and embarking on a journey of undetermined length, following your soul wherever in this great, wide world it may lead you. Trust me, though, I’ve seriously considered this more times than I can count.
The only thing that has ever set my soul on fire was travel. When I was younger, it was the idea of travel – getting to explore other countries, different wonders of the world, get lost in a new city, stumble my way through a foreign language, sample the foods prepared by grandmothers and mothers around the world. This hasn’t changed as I’ve gotten older – my heart still feels most alive adventuring, traveling, and exploring new places. I love the feeling of being in a new place and seeing how other people live. I love the moments that open my eyes to a different way of seeing the world, when my own views and assumptions are challenged.
As much of a wanderlust soul as I have though, I’m not a full-time traveler, and don’t think I ever will be. However, I’ve come to understand that just because I’m not traveling full time, doesn’t mean I have to be caged the rest of the time. Sometimes exploring somewhere local that I’ve never been, taking a weekend trip somewhere new, or planning my next big adventure gives me a little boost of adventure to get me to my next travels. It’s helped me understand that this wild soul of mine has many outlets, that not only travel will satiate it, but experiences in general. Adventurous and heart-pounding moments, but also quiet, serene moments in nature
So, come on this journey with me as I tell my stories and experiences, but also the stories of other incredible individuals that have inspiring, hilarious, heartbreaking stories of their own. What’s yours?
